The fourth city directory published in Detroit, Michigan, after those issued in 1837, 1845, and 1846. This 1853 directory "'marked the beginning of regular annual or biennial directory publishing for the city of Detroit" (McGinnis, "Michigan Genealogy", 108). Includes many ads for local businesses, some illustrated, and some on yellow paper. Rebacked with new spine, foxing and toning to pages, some rubbing to cover lettering. Item #11063
