Chinese Maid Authentic Recipes. Chop Suey Chow Mein Egg Foo Yong.
Chicago: Min Sun Trading Company, Circa 1930s to 1940s. Quarto, single leaf printed on both sides, 11.75 x 8.75". A recipe flyer issued by a Chinese American owned importer and packer of Chinese food ingredients. The company was owned by Tom Y. Chan, a leading member of the Chinese colony of Chicago who also owned the Chinese Noodle Manufacturing Company. The masthead of the flyer prints the National Recovery Act logo, dating it to the Great Depression. It contains recipes making use of the company's "Chinese Maid" products, including Chinese Maid Chow Mein Noodles and Chinese Maid Soy Sauce. The front side prints recipes for chop suey, chow mein, egg foo young, and rice, and the reverse prints recipes for salads, including Ho Mee Salad and bean sprout salad. We locate copies at the University of Michigan and New York Public Library. A very good copy with folding creases, toning along center of flyer. Item #11691
