Titled on the front cover Princess Theottowa's Vegetable and Beauty Chart." A guide to natural healing and diet written by a Native American health lecturer, astrologer, "practical psychologist," and entrepreneur from Muskogee, Oklahoma. According to her 1930 obituary, Betty Parker, aka Princess Theottowa, was the half Cherokee granddaughter of chief John Saunders. She began lecturing at age twelve, "while dressed in typical frontier Indian garb, and was better known in the east than in places nearer home" (Muskogee Times-Democrat, April 26, 1930). The booklet promotes a variety of healing techniques, including proper mastication and diet, proper state of mind, prayer, clairvoyance, and mind reading. The second half of the booklet consists of diet tips, the "vegetable chart" listing the medicinal properties of vegetables and fruits, and recipes for magnetism, vitality, complexion, sleep, "women's friend," etc. This edition is greatly expanded that a different edition he have handled recently (46 pp as opposed to 22 pp).
