Glasgow: Alexander Carmichael, 1731. 5.25 x 3.5", early leather wallet binding, likely 19th century, 179, 11-82, 156-262, 3-158 pp. This volume contains a scarce edition of "Advice to Communicants," by Scottish clergyman Robert Craighead, together with two works by English Puritans: John Flavel's "Divine Conduct, or the Mysterie of Providence," and "The Young Man's Duty and Excellency," by Thomas Brookes. This 1731 edition of "Advice to Communicants" is unrecorded in OCLC, while the editions of the other two works are unknown, as they are incomplete and lacking title pages. Owner inscription to title page, inscribed at the end of first work "Robert Thomson" and dated 1752. Toning and occasional soiling to pages, lower corner of first 26 pages chipped with loss to part of imprint and to some text, hole to pp. 39-40, "Advice to Communicants" otherwise complete with a couple of tears to pages. "Divine Conduct" missing the first ten pages as well as pp. 83-155, with damage and loss to some other pages. "Young Man's Duty" lacking pages 1-2, generally otherwise complete with a couple of tears. Item #13532
