Charleston, South Carolina: 1848. Bifolium, 10 x 8", with text printed to first page only, filled out in manuscript. A monthly report sent to the parents of Arthur Middleton, a sophomore at the College of Charleston, in July, 1848. The upper portion records the student's absences, while the lower half prints a series of "remarks" from the professors, i.e. "As the Faculty cannot extend their supervision to the respective homes of the Students, they must be understood as asking this question of all parents...Is this young gentleman diligent and studious at home?"
