Kookery From Kentucky Kitchens
Paducah, Kentucky: Billings Print, Circa 1942. Octavo, green stapled wrappers with black titles, 64 pp, local advertisements. A scarce World War II era community cookbook compiled by the Paducah Women's Club of Paducah, Kentucky. Undated, but has a 1942 gift inscription on the title page, and the book is mentioned in a 1942 newspaper article, which states that funds from its sale went towards a local settlement house and to the woman's club student fund (The Paducah Sun, 1/11/1942). The recipes are attributed, and include molasses popcorn balls, frozen tomato cocktail, grapefruit and crabmeat cocktail, frozen egg nog, southern spoon bread, and Mother Humma's Nut Cake. Not in OCLC. Chip to upper corner, mild staining to wrappers, foxing to last few pages, else very good. Item #14438
