Boyd" in gilt on lower spine. Scarce Civil War era illustrated magazine. The volume contains volume 3 of Frank Leslie's Ten Cent Monthly, covering the year 1864, and volume 4 of Frank Leslie's New Monthly, covering 1865. Leslie began publishing Ten Cent Monthly in 1863; the name changed to Frank Leslie's New Monthly in 1865, and then changed again in 1866 to Frank Leslie's Pleasant Hours. The magazine was for families and includes numerous engravings, including many fashion illustrations. Toning and foxing to pages, wear to binding with minor cloth loss, small chips to margins of a couple leaves, rubbing, minor soiling, and cracking to binding, overall in very good condition.
