Atlanta: Army Press, 1942. 4to, 134 pp, red leatherette covers lettered in gilt. Illustrated history and yearbook of an all-African American brigade that served in WWII. According to the introduction, "On February 10, 1941, the 46th Field Artillery Brigade (G.H.Q.) came into being as a military unit under the command of Colonel George H. Paine. This apparently simple statement covers much, as this was the first time in the Military History of the United States that a unit as large as a Brigade was formed completely of Colored Troops." The book prints numerous photographic illustrations depicting African American soldiers training at Camp Livington, Louisiana. In very good condition with wear to covers, soldier name inked to introductory page (Charles Gray), few ink annotations to text, later ownership stamp to front pastedown. Item #8679
